Police have cordoned off the Highgate dairy in response to an attempted robbery last night.

A man entered the dairy wielding a knife and threatening staff, but eventually left empty handed.

Two police vehicles were parked outside the dairy this morning.

The entrance was cordoned off as a police emergency, with officers inspecting the area.

Officers also patrolled the surrounding street, going into neighbouring properties.

The offender has been described as a short white male, of slim build, dressed in black, and carrying a black sports bag.
