A spike in crime has police warning Calton Hill residents to be on guard.

In the latest incidents a mountain bike and a moped were stolen from the same suburban street at the weekend.

Police aren't sure if the thefts are related, but suspect someone's targeting the area.

The grey and black mountain bike is worth almost $800 and was stolen off a truck parked inside a Waimea Road property.

It was locked to a bike rack, which was damaged.

The moped was stolen from the driveway of another Waimea Road property.
