Police and Fire Service officers are investigating a suspected arson at a St Clair house.

Firefighters were called to the Lock Street home just after 9am on Saturday.

They spent six and a half hours dealing with the blaze, which is being treated as suspicious.

Police began a scene examination on Saturday, which continued throughout the weekend.

Officers would like to hear from anyone in the area at the time of the fire, who may have seen someone acting suspiciously.

It's understood a young man lived in the apartment unit but wasn't there when the fire began.
